Teaching Positions in Mathematics

Essential Information: Mathematics teachers work in classrooms in elementary schools, middle schools and high schools. They impart mathematics curricula to their students, which might include helping them prepare for standardized tests and college entrance exams. Mathematics teachers can train in several ways. Some have bachelor’s degrees in education and specialize in mathematics. Others hold bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and complete an education program as well. All math teachers in public schools must meet their state’s certification or licensing requirements, which usually calls for competency examinations.

  • Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in education or mathematics with teacher education courses. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Grade Level: Grades 9-12
  • Experience Required: At least three (3) years of high school teaching experience
  • Other Requirements: Teaching certificate required within the United States (requires the certification test in the academic area)
  • Evidence of Strong Classroom Management Skills
  • Experience in Teaching Exceptional Children (Gifted and/or Special Needs)
  • Fluent speaker of the English Language

Teaching Positions in Special Education

Essential Information: Special Education teachers carry the responsibility of educating children in grades preschool to twelfth grade who are diagnosed with a number of physical, mental and emotional disabilities. They work with legally required federal paperwork called an IEP, or Individualized Educational Plan, that outlines the necessary supports accommodations and goals for an individual child. These goals can encompass both academic and behavioral concerns. These teachers also direct meetings with parents and staff regarding the plan and make necessary adjustments throughout the year. In the classroom, they work with children who can vary from mild to severe disabilities, using specialized techniques to help them reach their goals.

  • Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education with teacher education courses. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Grade Level: Grades Pre K-12
  • Experience Required: At least three (3) years of teaching experience in Special Education
  • Other Requirements: Teaching certificate required within the United States (requires the certification test in the academic area)

  • Collaborate with other staff members to help the student improve
  • Work as a co-teacher in regular classrooms with general education teachers
  • Experience in Teaching Exceptional Children (Gifted and/or Special Needs)

Teachings Position in Science

Essential Information: Under the reasonable direction of the school administrators, carry out the professional duties of a school teacher as set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document; raise standards of student attainment and achievement within Science and monitor and support student progress; teach Science to groups of students from all abilities across years 6-18, with a particular emphasis on the delivery of Broad Field Science, including biology, chemistry, and physical science; check that all science subject matters ae effectively communicated and understood by all groups of students; keep work areas tidy and organized to promote safety in the science laboratory; attend scheduled meetings in the Science Department and school; and help develop science resources for the Science Department.

  • Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Science with teacher education courses. Master’s Degree preferred.
